Porcelain insulators are the most widely used insulation material in power line grid. According to application, they are classified by disc type (suspension), pin type, stay type, shackle type and so on. With different hardwares they can be used for suspension & tension, distribution and stay purpose.
Disc and suspension insulators have advantage of good insulation performance and long working life. It is flexible to connect several discs together to meet 10kv-800kv system voltage in overhead line.
Post Insulator is usually bigger size and used in high voltage substation to support conductor. It can be also used as disconnector switch support.
Pin and pin post insulator is mostly for distribution line using, on 11kv-66kv suspension pole, or as jumper support on tension pole.
Shackle insulator is often used for 400V-1KV line, to fix bare conductor or insulated cable.
Stay insulator as safety protection is installed in pole stay system.
